Episode 137 - "Voices of Reason..."

On Episode 137, the boys start out with a very special guest, Mark Twain, who has appeared before and appears tonight to comment on a Twain inpersonator who is making news in Hannibal MO. When he is finished the boys invite a frequent guest, Manhattan Man, to comment on several news items including the new CSA Game that is sweeping the nation - "Is it Jesus, Cat Stevens or Evan?" There is a link mentioned in the podcast and it is below so you can play the home version of the game. Just let us know if you think the image is Jesus, Cat Stevens or Evan. Manhattan Man also provides a commentary on the Dallas Braden Baseball Fiasco, Boobquake! and they all calm down listening to the final installment of "A few minutes with Yogi..."

Check us out even just to hear Mark Twain...

CSA The Deep End: Episode 003 "28 minutes on Stupidity in Our Government"

What, only 28 minutes? The boys could have spent hours but instead boiled down to a bunch of gems - from the missing slaves from Civil War History month and the "Great Yankee Aggression" to Palin and pals in Washington, the boys skewer all of them in this quick moving roast.

Give us 28 minutes, we'll give you humor...

Episode 136 - "The episode that almost wasn't or That's what you get for going to the dark side..."

So 8 Beer Sampler attempted to upload this podcast to the interwebtubes about 21 times and kept getting error messages and file already exists errors. 8BS started to backward chain, going back one step in the process each time, getting all the way back to the original edit and resaving the file before it finally worked. Whew! we would have hated to go get the computer from the front lawn if a few more error messages had shown up.

Anyway:

Tonight on this episode of the PodCast, Maqz and the Penguin explore the dark side of things. We begin with a chilling story about an evil clown that does birthday parties, one result of the ash cloud from the Iceland volcano (no, we can’t pronounce it either!), move to a crazy man's yard in Florida, and end with a pranksters plan to infiltrate the teabagger movement. At least they can run a few words of wisdom from Yogi to calm the nerves and help settle the emotions. What are they going to do when the list of Yogisms runs out next episode?

Give #136 a listen please, it took a lot of work to get it here!

Episode 135 - "A Titanic Effort on Reality"

On this episode of the podcast Maqz and the Penguin fantasize about getting the makers of Cranberry Bog wine, a Maqz favorite, to sponsor our podcast. This would expose the product to thousands of listeners! After this moment, the boys move onto more pressing ideas. First up, Maqz clarifies and adds to some of the issues we discussed in our first episode of the DEEP END, on government, the role of government and making changes. After this, they talk about Conan O’Brien’s tweets, and then move onto a famous anniversary. This week is the anniversary date of the sinking of the Titanic and a couple of interesting stories from the Book of Lists website including how the survival rate might have been affected by nationality and passenger list incongruities. Next Maqz brings up an interesting way tribes in New Guinea are trying to reduce tribal wars, a George Orwell moment for sure. Almost continuing on this Big Brother theme, the boys tackle a school zero-tolerance policy. As they wind down, Maqz admits he is into the reality show “Courtney and Chloe Take Miami” which highlights the unreality of these people. The Penguin points out that they sometimes just don’t see their actions as problematic. This morphs into an April Fool’s Joke gone bad discussion that is dumber than dumb. After all this agitation, the boys come back to reality by hearing a few more words from Yogi Berra.

And this, dear listener, is what they have this week!

The Deep End: Episode 002 - "27 minutes on Superstitions and other stuff"

In this episode of THE DEEP END, the boys take a journey that ends in a very different place than it began as most journeys do. At the start, they talk about baseball and its various superstitions, from the ball players mannerisms to the fans response to things like no-hit ballgames. This leads to a discussion about how baseball specifically and sports in general is reported and how Ball Four changed all the rules and many of the opinions. Then there is a line drawn from sports reporting to news reporting in general and all hell breaks loose. So a discussion about Nomar Garciaparra adjusting his batting gloves morphs into a discussion of the sex lives and handicap of POTUS. I guess the Stevie Wonder song “Superstitions” is apropos after all.

Very superstitious, writing's on the wall,
Very superstitious, ladders bout' to fall,
Thirteen month old baby, broke the lookin' glass
Seven years of bad luck, the good things in your past.

When you believe in things that you don't understand,
Then you suffer,
Superstition ain't the way

Very superstitious, wash your face and hands,
Rid me of the problem, do all that you can,
Keep me in a daydream, keep me goin' strong,
You don't wanna save me, sad is my song.

When you believe in things that you don't understand,
Then you suffer,
Superstition ain't the way, yeh, yeh.

Very superstitious, nothin' more to say,
Very superstitious, the devil's on his way,
Thirteen month old baby, broke the lookin' glass,
Seven years of bad luck, good things in your past

When you believe in things that you don't understand,
Then you suffer,
Superstition ain't the way, no, no, no

Episode 134 "Stories so weird, Yogi seems downright understandable!"

On tonight's episode the boys take on the most central aspect of all internet stories...Yes, it is News of the Weird! After countless hours of reading and digesting all the internet crumbs, we have culled down the weirdest of the weird, those stories that simply make you shake your head while secretly hoping for more. Want a sample? We got counterfeit money, a Walmart thug, biblical images in a stone, human milk cheeses...well you get the idea. We could go on for ever. But we limit it to 25 minutes so we can get our sanity back with a few minutes with philosopher Yogi Berra. Now you know you're trouble when the Yog is the voice of reason.

Hey give 134 a listen, please!

The Deep End: Episode 001 "30 minutes on the role of government"

THE DEEP END

Today we introduce a new extension of the Countless Screaming Argonauts PodCast brand, something we are calling “The Deep End.” When we changed our format a bit back at episode 100, we committed to doing shorter shows with commentary on a wide variety of wide ranging topics. We have been very happy with the results – a cleaner, quicker paced, funnier show. We continue to do “Chronicles – One topic, two voices, three minutes each” and enjoy the opportunities to flesh out an idea in a short, compact format. However, there seemed to be something missing in these two formats and that is a more in depth discussion about a single topic. Thus “The Deep End” was born. We will do some of these in depth discussions that could be serious or funny or just thought provoking. We will let you know what you are in for in the title and hope that you enjoy the new process. As always emails and comments are always welcome.

So in this episode of “The Deep End” Maqz and the Penguin spend 30 minutes talking about the role of government in our lives – pros and cons.

Episode 133 - "An Irishman, a penguin and Maqz walk into a bar..."

On tonight's episode of CSA, the boys welcome a new friend, Joshua. He's a bar crawling, dart playing, member of Manhattan Man's posse, come over from Ireland, with a few thoughts about life in this part of the country. He is new to this podcast thing so the guys break him in slowly but his quick wit dazzles before too long. He tells us a bit about his living in New York City and offers commentary on our culture (or lack thereof) too. Join us for a little romp this week!

Episode 133 - The joke is on us!

Our Podcast is best enjoyed while drinking Montazuma Wines - We recommend the Cranberry Bog!
